Going Beyond Time

  • Time is defined as the interval between 2 thoughts (e.g. sun rise and sun set).
  • Sun rise and sun set are both false, because in reality, the Sun neither rises nor sets.
  • Day/Night are both illusory effects perceived due to rotation of Earth.
  • Just like pictures in a film is caused due to moving frames that the eyes think that the pictures exist. Similarly, all perceptions are an illusion.
  • Similarly, a thorough analysis of all experiences via the sense organs will prove that it is only an illusion.
  • Even the states of existence (i.e. waking, dream and deep sleep) negate each other (i.e. one state is wiped out in the other)
  • The truth is that there are no two points of reference, but only a Single point of reference and that is Brahman (just a word).
  • If this is completely understood, then the concept of time is falsified and negated.
  • Once the concept of time is negated, the individual has gone beyond time and hence beyond death.
That individuality when merges with the absolute alone can KNOW this!

Sat-Asat-Mithya

SAT: Tri-Kale-Api-Tishtati – That Which Always Exists
ASAT: Tri-Kale-Api-Na-Tishtati – That Which Never Exists
MITHYA: Swa-Kale-Api-Tishtati – That Which Exists As Long As I See
  • My experiences are not SAT because they are not available in deep-sleep. They are not ASAT because I am experiencing. My experiences are only known to me as long as "i" wish to see. For example, there may be an apple in front of me, but "i" will not see if either I am asleep, unconscious or unmindful. Everything perceived is therefore Mithya. That which is not there yet appears.
  • The Consciousness that is aware of its disappearance and appearance never goes (This is changeless, permanent and real).
  • From the Consciousness alone, the first thought arises “I”, within this body.
  • That “I” thought has got its world of names and forms and it disappears again. It is happening every day when we go to deep sleep and wake up.
This is throbbing every moment. Once the mind is quiescent, this realization or experience can happen.

Realization means the mind takes inputs from the senses of perception, but there is no reaction thru the senses of organs. The individual ACTs without any reaction!

Closer To Realization? - A Quick Check

Principle # 1:
Do you have a firm conviction that this ephemeral world is a manifestation of the mind? And the mind comes into existence due to the “I” thought. Without the “I”, there is no mind; no world.

Principle # 2:
Do you have a firm conviction that “I” am unborn? “I” have no existence and hence “I” shall never die.

Principle # 3:
Do you have a firm conviction that everything is “egoless”? Ego is not real, but falsely imagined. Has anyone ever seen a portrait of the Mr. ego?

Principle # 4:
Do you have a firm conviction that “I Am” no-thing? Do you feel that you not an object?

The "sense of presence"; the feeling "I Am" is the key to unraveling the Truth.

Upanishads - The Maha Vakyas

The end portion of each Veda consist of several Upanishads (Upanishad means sitting “near” a Master). Vedanta and Upanishads are one and the same. Upanishads are teachings by realized Masters, reveling in that Supreme state of Consciousness, to the students. Authors of the Upanishads are the students, since the Master does not exist as an individual to be the author. These students, are of the highest order who have not yet fully merged their individuality. There is one such Upanishad in each Veda that summarizes and conveys the entire Knowledge. Hence, there are 4 such Upanishads identified and each is summarized in the form of a Vakya (a one-liner). The 4 Vakyas are known as Mahavakyas. If the 4 Mahavakyas are understood correctly and meditated upon, then the Ultimate Truth can be realized.
  • From the Aitareya Upanishad, in the Rig Veda, comes “Prajnanam Brahma”, known as abhyasa vakya.
  • From the Chandogya Upanishad, in the Saama Veda, comes “Tat Twam Asi”, known as upadesa vakya.
  • From the Mundaka Upanishad, in the Atharva Veda, comes “Ayam Atma Brahma”, known as mukti vakya.
  • From the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, in the Yajur Veda, comes “Aham Brahma Asmi”, known as anubhava vakya.
If you are true seeker, the deeper meaning will come to you! And that is the challenge of this life!
